Bio

Eric Luedtke attended the University of Maryland and studied to become a teacher. For six years, he has taught social studies in the Montgomery County Public Schools, working in schools where many of the children are challenged by poverty or by speaking English as a second language. In theclassroom and as a member of the Montgomery County Education Association board, Eric has worked hard to give every child a chance to succeed. Eric and his colleagues have helped ensure funding for innovative programs in schools, bring more school construction dollars to the county, and raise awareness about the achievement gap.

But his work in the community has not been limited to education. As a leader in the local Sierra Club, Eric advocated for the preservation of wild places and for cleaner air and water. Eric has supported sensible solutions to our transportation problems, including funding for metro and other transit options.

As a member of the East County Citizens Advisory Board, Eric has worked to bring high-paying biotech jobs to the district, and advocated for economic revitalization in Burtonsville.
