New Harford Democratic Club
NHDC POLICY REGARDING
ATTENDANCE, FLOOR PRIVLEGES, RECOGNITION
FROM THE CLUB PRESIDENT or PRESIDING
OFFICER
To meet our club mission, the NHDC Board has proposed the following policy for general membership meetings, events, and activities:
Only NHDC members in good standing(1) or those invited to speak or address the club (2) shall have the opportunity to take the floor after being recognized by the NHDC president or presiding officer. Floor privileges are reserved for thoughtful comments, club discussions, genuine questions and announcements (3). The presiding officer shall have the authority to interpret the club constitution and determine the previsions of the NHDC and Robert’s Rules of Order(4) at all times.
New members, or the visiting public, are
encouraged and welcomed to join the regular
NHDC club membership for general session
presentations(5). However, visitors should not
expect to be invited to fully participate in
official NHDC club business. The NHDC president
or presiding officer has the sole discretion
for recognizing speakers or allowing attendance
to other parts of the regular NHDC membership
meeting. Failure to follow these rules, in the
opinion of the club president or presiding
officer, could result in immediate removal from
the club meeting or event and banishment from
future NHDC meetings or events.
This
policy aims to ensure that those addressing the
membership during the regularly scheduled
meetings reflect the mission and goals of the
NHDC and the Democratic Party.
